Product Design Engineer

We’re reshaping the product designer for the AI era. You own product design end to end, then take it further than a traditional designer ever could: from a user story to working, production-ready UI.

  • Full-time
  • Remote
  • Embedded in a product team

About the role

We’re building the agency that defines product design in the AI era.

Brandcave hires, trains, and embeds senior product designers inside our clients’ teams. You own the project end to end and you’re accountable for the outcome, backed by a strategy layer, an operating system, and a community of designers working at the frontier. No translation layer, no hand-offs to people you’ve never met.

AI tooling is collapsing the distance between design and code. Most agencies are watching it happen. We’re the ones rewriting the playbook, and the Product Design Engineer is the role at the center of it. You don’t just use AI tools; you operate at the bleeding edge of what they make possible, so great product thinking still drives what gets built.

What you’ll do

  • Translate user stories and journeys into high-fidelity, working prototypes, real screens instead of static mockups, so we can put them in front of users right away.

  • Design and build interfaces with a focus on quality and scalability, and extend design systems in both Figma and code.

  • Own a client retainer end to end, embedded inside a product org as if you were their senior hire.

  • Work directly with clients to review and refine product design, and conduct user interviews that shape what gets built.

  • Hand off working product to engineering, not a spec to reinterpret, so the build starts with far less confusion.

What we’re looking for

  • A willingness to accept failure and feedback, learn, and try again.

  • The ability to take a project from scoping requirements through developer hand-off.

  • Clear communication with users, technical teams, and stakeholders to collect requirements and describe features and technical designs.

  • Genuine interest in modern UX practice and AI-native workflows, with a solid grasp of software and design-system best practices.

  • Comfort debating technical decisions with engineers, and the presence to speak up when something needs to be said.
